Hühnergott - Hascherlit - hag stones
Back from my trip from the Baltic Sea in Germany in Boltenhagen, nearby Rostock. And as a lot of visitors I walked along the shore and try to find some "hag stones" (German: Hühnergott or Hascherlit) or Thunderstones (German: Donnerkeil or Latin: Belemniten) and I was partly successfull by finding some hag stones. But what is a hag stone? In short: A stone "from the sea" with a hole in it. A hag stone is a stone with a naturally occurring hole through it. They are also known as adder stones, witch stones, serpent eggs, and fairy stones. Hag stones are believed to have magical properties, and have been used for centuries for protection, healing, and divination. The hole in a hag stone is said to represent the eye of a witch or fairy. According to legend, witches and fairies would use their eyes to cast spells and curse people.
